Dagger v Sword — Plays 1-2 (Fol 19r)
Section: Fiore: Dagger
Source Text and Drawing

Here begin the Sword and the dagger to play. The advantage is great to whoever knows how to do it. The master waits in this guard. And this guard is called the boar’s tooth. Come cuts and thrusts, I know how to watch for them. The right foot with the beating away [parry] I return back. The constrained play I have in mind, and I cannot fail at it. Come against me one by one those who want to act against me. They will not escape me, I will smash them in one go.
My master makes this cover against the thrust, and immediately strikes in the face or in the chest. And with dagger against sword [you] always want constrained play. Here I am constrained and I can easily strike you. You will suffer whether you want to or not.
